Gastro Intestinal Helminths among Hausa-Fulani in Wamakko and Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto, Nigeria

Background: Gastro Intestinal Helminths infection is one of the major health burdens in developing countries particularly Sub -Saharan Africa. It has been estimated to affect about 2.5 billion people globally and 250 million are thought be ill as a result such infections, majority being children.
 Aims: The study aimed determine prevalence associated risk factors gastro intestinal helminths infections among Wamakko Tambuwal local government area Sokoto state.
 Study Design: This was cross-sectional, descriptive study.
 Place Duration Study: conducted Hausa- Fulani wamakko Sokoto, from June 2019 October 2019.
 Methodology: Parasitological examination carried out on stool samples 243 participants using microscopy following formal ether concentration methods.
 Results: Finding revealed that 29 (12%) were positive for infections. Males recorded more (11.9%) than females (11.8%).
 Conclusion: parasites continue remain serious public problem North-western Nigeria. Low level education, occupational status, poor water supply seems significant these Creating awareness, increase sanitation, good de-worming programme school children will reduce intensity parasitic area.
